Now, on to the coolest story ever: Early last month our Healing Strong Conference and Retreat planning team was brainstorming ways to get the word out to the public about our conference. Many ideas were bouncing around the group, and we were already sharing the news with friends and going around town putting up flyers at churches and health food stores. All this was great, but we saw the need for a heavy hitter.

I was listening to everyone’s ideas when I thought about Natural Awakenings magazine. The first time I read it was at a Whole Foods when looking for doctors that would support me in healing from cancer without chemotherapy and radiation in 2008. I knew it was our CORE audience, but as I shared my idea with the group, we all agreed that it would probably not be a good option. Some thought it would probably be too expensive to advertise in, and others figured the publishing deadline for the August issue had probably already passed. As a group we ended up talking ourselves out of it and moved on to other ideas.

THREE DAYS LATER later I got an email….from NATURAL AWAKENINGS MAGAZINE!! Super weird, right? As a believer in Christ, (and after I got over my initial shock,) I reached for the sky in praise. These things just don’t happen on their own! I still don’t know how exactly they got my contact information. Maybe a Google search??? But the topic they were writing about that month was “Atlanta Cancer Survivors Who Beat Cancer Naturally.”

So, after a quick conversation, their editor edited my cancer story into a much-too-simplified-but-necessary-for-time version that you can READ AND SEE HERE, but I strongly suggest you get the full story from my blog if you are here for the first time.
