Alternative Breast Cancer Survivors: Marilyn

Marilyn Brent

Today’s survivor story is an absolutely uplifting and detailed narrative. She discusses her Stage II/III diagnosis, her kids’ reaction, her family’s history with breast cancer, her alternative protocol of choice, and her remission! Marilyn’s attitude of optimism is contagious and a perfect read for someone who is currently pursuing alternative therapies. Like my own story, her faith took a front row seat to everything else.

What stood out in Marilyn’s story was that she knew that no one’s path is exactly the same when dealing with cancer- even in alternative and holistic healing. She prayed intensely about what she was supposed to do and then chose the methods that she felt was right for her. She mentions the Budwig protocol, which was one of my courses of action and remarks that it has helped many people obtain victory over their cancer. However, she eventually chose to heal using a protocol laid out by Solomon J. Wickey, an Amish Herbalist.

I talk about this over and over again with cancer fighters who contact me through Green Drink Diaries. I tell them they can read about what I did, but ultimately they need to calm their fears, pray, research alternative cancer protocols, learn about their cancer’s behavior, and decide what methods they are being guided towards. Marilyn’s story embodies this. You should never make a decision out of fear.

Now, when you read her story, you will find that it is full of faith-based references- lots of Bible scripture and Christian terminology. Regardless of your belief system or world view, you will find Marilyn’s intense heart and passion for sharing her story to help others clearly shines through in her testimony.

  1. Love this Cortney. Great point about fear. Doctors use fear to rush patients into surgery, chemo, and radiation. Fear-based decisions are often the wrong decision. My approach was to ask God to lead me in the path of healing and He did. When you give your fear to Him, He gives you peace and illiminates your path. You can then make Faith-based decisions. What a difference that is!
